KIKUUBE: Local governments in Uganda have been urged to fully implement the National Resistance Movement {NRM} manifesto which is in alignment with the National Development Plan III.

The call was made on Wednesday by Gilbert Okello Onono an Official from the Office of the President, Manifesto Implementation Unit while popularizing the NRM Manifesto and the Parish Development Model in the meeting with Kikuube district officials in the district council hall.

“You should  focus on Implementing basically what the President of Uganda promised to deliver to the people”, he said.

Ms. Ndagano Faridah the district communication officer disclosed that the government has earmarked 100M for each of the 10,595 Parishes in Uganda next financial year, and this financial year each parish will receive 17 million shillings.

Faridah added that in preparation for the Parish Development Model, the district has already 6 Parish Chiefs to fill the remaining vacant positions noting that all the 29 parishes now have substantive parish chiefs.

The District Production and Marketing officer Dr Ntume Banabas said the Parish Development Committees are already established. However, he noted that a few changes will be made since the final guidelines require other members to be included like the NRM Chairperson at the Parish level.

The Kikuube district vice chairperson Hon Opio Vicent Alpha called for allocation of more funds to the district if the NRM Manifesto is to be well implemented.
