KIBAALE: Police in Kibaale district have finally arrested a 70-year-old man who has been in hiding after he chopped off his wife’s right hand following a family misunderstanding last week.

The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza identified the suspect as Wilson Bihakanirwa and victim as Mukagateete Bihakanirwa aged 40, both residents of Kijungu Village in Bubango Sub County, Kibaale District.

Hakiza said the duo developed a quarrel stemming from money that was sold from a plot of land allegedly owned by Mukagateete which prompted the suspect to chop off the wife’s hand.

It’s reported that the victim had just returned from her parent’s home after the husband persuaded her.

The regional police mouthpiece told this publication that they acted on intelligence led information and nabbed Bihakanirwa from his hideout in Hapuuyo town council in Kyegegwa District.

The suspect is currently detained at Kibaale Police station pending court appearance and his wife is still nursing wounds at Emesco Health Center IV.
