BUKEDEA: Police in Bukedea district are investigating the circumstances under which a man killed his wife in Kadacar village Kangole Sub County.
The incident occured on Wednesday night when Moses Oguti, 47, reportedly murdered Jesca Elaete, 37.
According to sources, Oguti had a bitter quarrel with Elaete resulting in a fight during which he severely assaulted the wife.
The sources added that Elaete was later rushed to Kabarwa health center III on Thursday morning for treatment in severe condition where she was later pronounced dead.
Later the deceased’s relatives reported the matter to the Kabarwa police post after Ogutu had fled.
“After their fight, the case was reported to police, unfortunately, Elaete passed on and the husband Oguti had taken off”, said a Police officer at Kabarwa.
However, police later mounted a hunt and managed to arrest Ogutu on Thursday afternoon.
Charles Patrick Okoto, the Bukedea district police commander confirmed Oguti’s arrest revealing that they are holding him on murder charges as investigations go on.
Okoto added that Oguti would be arraigned in court to answer the charges once the investigations are complete.“I want confirm that in our cells, we have one Oguti whom we arrested on Thursday afternoon over the allegations of murdering his wife Ms. Elaete”, said Okoto.
The police officer however, advised the spouses to always explore abicable and lawful means of resolving family disputes in order to avoid such incidencies.
