MASINDI: Patrick Baguma the Acting District Health Officer Masindi has been released on police bond.
Speaking to ugreports.com this afternoon, ASP Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson confirmed that the district health officer was released on the evening of Monday noting that he was released on the condition to produce the documents of accountability.
”He is supposed to report back to Masindi Central Police Station on Thursday with accountability. He was charged with abuse of office, and embezzlement of government funds as the major cases,” Hakiza noted.
Patrick Baguma was arrested on Monday afternoon in Kihande Cell Central Division in Masindi Municipality on the allegations of mismanaging Covid-19 funds, acting manner bringing service into disrepute, acting against public interest, failure to supervise staff, refusal to comply with lawful instructions among other issues.
Ms Rose Kirabira Kobusinge the resident district commissioner Masindi ordered for his arrest after getting a copy of the interdiction letter from the office of the chief administrative officer Masindi.
Kirabira told Journalists on Monday that she ordered for the immediate arrest of Baguma to commence investigations since he failed to account for funds disbursed to the district including corona virus, hepatitis B, and child fund.
