MASINDI: The NRM party vice chairperson in Masindi district Kanaginagi Ateenyi has asked the leadership of Masindi district and municipal councils to pass resolutions calling for the naming of a road or a street in Masindi town in memory of the fallen former district chairperson Isingoma Wilson Mugimba.
Kanaginagi was addressing mourners in a special Masindi district council sitting to honour Mugimba held on Tuesday at Masindi district gardens.
He described the late as a person who greatly loved Masindi district and diligently served and enormously worked for its development during his term as its chairperson.
Kanaginagi therefore noted that it is befitting for the two councils to recognise and honour the late’s enormous contribution to the district by having a street named after him.
Badru Mugabi, the RCC Hoima city, who seconded Kanaginag’s suggestion, described the late as having been a peaceful person and who prioritised the roads sector that saw many roads opened up and rehabilitated in Masindi during his tenure.
The Member of Parliament for Masindi municipality Joab Businge described the late Mugimba as a person who has been a great manager, economist and practical.
In his remarks, Cosmas Byaruhanga, the district chairperson described Mugimba as a good man despite having stood against him for the post of the district chairperson two times and defeated him.
Byaruhanga added that because of Mugimba’s peaceful nature they had what he termed as the most peace full campaigns with him.
Mugimba died on Saturday morning after an operation at Lacor hospital.
He will be buried on Wednesday at his home in Kinuuma village, Miirya Sub County.
