MASINDI LIVESTOCK FARMERS TIPPED ON HOW TO YIELD BIGGER

MASINDI: Emmy Ngabirano the Resident District Commissioner {RDC} Masindi has tipped farmers in Masindi District on how to yield bigger livestock.

While handing over two fodder chopper worth 14 million shillings to Kaan Mixed Farm group in Kiduru cell in Bigando Ward, Kigulya Division in Masindi Municipality on Thursday, Ngabirano implored the farmers to embrace improved animals feeds in order to attain high milk and beef production.

‘’If livestock farmers adopt hybrid feeds and provide enough water for dairy cows, they will get much milk and reap much income since milk is in high demand,’’ said Ngabirano.

He also encouraged the locals to use the government programs that are curtailed under farmer inputs to harness their household incomes.

‘’You should embrace and use government programs that are curtailed under farmer inputs to harness your household incomes,’’ he encouraged.

Dr. Fred Ssebuguzi, the Acting District Production Officer, explained that the farmer group was supported by the Market Oriented Beef Improvement Project (MOBIP) with the aim of improving beef production through quality feed.

Kasaija Anatole, the group chairperson, appreciated the District for supporting their group with the feed equipment.

He added that, with this support they are going to feed their dairy and beef animals adequately to be able to realize high sales.
