KASESE: Kasese District Health department will Friday January 14, 2022 launch
the mass polio vaccination campaign targeting children less than five
years.
According to Richard Kalubenge, the National Programme Supervisor from
the Ministry of Health says the vaccine to be administered will act as
a booster doze to the children that have previously received the polio
vaccine.
The campaign which is funded by Lions and Rotary Clubs will be house
to house starting from Friday to Sunday.
Kalubenge appealed to the community members to avoid criticizing
government’s health programmes aimed at saving the lives of the
citizens from acquiring a number of ailments.
The Kasese District Health Educator, Agnes Mbambu told a meeting
consisting of the different stakeholders including the media
representatives, cultural leaders and church leaders at the Mayor’s
garden that 65% of the target group in Kasese district is at a higher
risk because of the border tourism activities and business.
Rev. Ezra Mukonzo Yongeza, the District Chairperson for the Interfaith
Committee while speaking to the press shortly after the meeting said
as church leaders, they would use their platforms to join the health
