MASINDI: The minister state for public service Grace Mary Mugasa has disclosed that the government will increase the salary scale for all civil servants in the country.
Addressing journalists on Thursday evening after the launch of Parish Development Model in Masindi District at the Country Inn Hotel, the minister said that the government is considering increasing the salary for all civil servants in the country.
Mugasa disclosed that the salary increment will be done in different financial years. ‘’The government is committed to increasing the salary for all civil servants in the country, and this will be done in different financial years,’’ she said.
She further said that once the salary scale has been increased, they will not sit aside and watch but supervise the civil servants.
‘’Once the salary scale is increased, we shall need the fruits, therefore we shall not sit at the side and watch, but monitor the civil servants,’’ Mugasa said.
She also asserted that the poor performing civil servants will be scrapped off the salary. ‘’We shall not tolerate lazy civil servants, we shall scrap them off the payroll,’’ Mugasa disclosed.
The Masindi district LCV Chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga said that the civil servants get low payment which can’t sustain them therefore asked for salary increment.
‘’We get less payment which can’t sustain us, we want the government to consider increasing our salary scale,’’ Byaruhanga said.
Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja the Prime Minister of Uganda said recently that the government doesn’t have money to increase the salary for all civil servants at the same time.
‘’We have increased the salary of medical workers. We can’t increase it for all civil servants at the same time because the government doesn’t have money,’’ she said.
The leader of government businesses however said that the salary increment for civil servants will be done in different financial years.
