ARUA: Police in Arua district are investigating circumstances under which two suspected motorcycle thieves were killed by mob.

According to the West Nile Region Police Spokesperson Angucia Josephine, the incident happened in the wee hours of Sunday in Aupi village, Ajia parish, Ajia Subcounty, Arua district.

The report was made to the police by the area LC1 chairperson.

Angucia identified the deceased persons as Mambo Edward 28, a resident of Opia Central village, Opia Parish, and Lematia Innocent 25, a resident of Ambala village, Eruba Parish, Vurra Subcounty, Arua district.

She says police visited the scene, recorded some relevant statements and took the bodies to Arua Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

The regional police mouthpiece however said no arrest has been made yet but inquiries are going on under Ajia Police Post SD reference 04/26/11/2022.

She caution the community not to take law into their hands but instead handover such suspects to police for proper investigations and appropriate punishment by courts of law.

  1. Boss Angucia, surrendering these thugs to police was inappropriate because at the end of the day, they would still be released to come and terrorise the community. They have died for their own cause. I suggest let the community breath.
