MoH EXTENDS COVID-19 VACCINATION OF CHILDREN

By Van Deguras

NTUNGAMO: The ministry of Health {MoH} shall not have in-school Covid-19 vaccination of children from 12-17years of age until further notice.

This was revealed by the National supervisor Covid-19 vaccination from the Ministry of Health Mr Bahikire Daraus on Monday at Ntungamo District Council Hall during stakeholders planning and coordination meeting for the implementation of the 3rd round of the accelerated mass Cocid-19 vaccination campaign.

Mr Bahikire Daraus also said that covid-19 vaccination campaign was extended to 21st June 2022 not 15th to 20th as earlier communicated and that in this case, they are going to continue vaccinating eligible category that is 18 and above for those who have never got any dose then those due for second dose and booster.

‘’We shall continue vaccinating the eligible category that is 18 and above for those who have never got any dose then those due for second dose and booster,’’ he said.

He said in Uganda covid-19 cases by Sunday stood at 119 cases which is risky to Ugandans if they are not following Standard Operating Procedures {SOPs}

Bahikire further encouraged Ugandans not to fear match and mix vaccines because scientists have done enough clinical trials. He said the mode of approach will be vaccination based on a willing parent whether now or later as they will be communicated.
