KABAROLE: The Kabarole District COVID-19 taskforce has resolved not to allow
non-vaccinated teaching and non-teaching staff in schools when they reopen next week on 10th January. According to Sarah Ayesiga the district COVID-19 Task Force Chairperson, allowing non-vaccinated teachers will be endangering the lives of innocent learners.
“When our schools reopen on Monday next week, we shall not allow non-vaccinated teachers and non-teaching staff in schools, because we don’t want to risk our children,” She said.
Ayesiga who also doubles as the Kabarole Resident District Commissioner made the remarks on Wednesday while sharing meeting with the head teachers of different schools from Kabarole at the district headquarters.
She said that all teachers will be required to carry their vaccination cards at school and give a photocopy to their bosses (Head teachers) noting the same applies to all private schools in the district.
The resident district commissioner also said that effective next week they will not be allowing non-vaccinated civil servants to access their offices at district headquarters in Kitumba.
In her remarks, the acting District Education officer, Ms Elizabeth Kasenene, called on the teachers to handle all the students without discrimination when schools reopen next week. “I don’t want to hear any teacher using bad language to our learners like abusing pregnant girls, please welcome them and treat them like other students,” She said.
Kasenene also challenged all the schools in the district to be ready to adhere to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health in a bid to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The District Chairperson Mr Richard Rwabuhinga also advised teachers to use the first week to orient their students as most of them their minds had switched to different income generating activities. He strongly warned teachers from tempting to forge the Covid-19 Vaccination Cards threatening to deal with one who would be implicated in the scandal.
