NTUNGAMO: The Ntungamo district secretary for finance, planning and administration Naboth Mpirirwe is in trouble for allegedly extorting money from job seekers in the district.
It is alleged that Mpirirwe, who is also the councillor for Ntungamo Sub-county extorted shillings 3 from a registered Nurse one Anna Barungi with a promise of helping her get a job of the Assistant Nursing officer in the recent district recruitment exercise.
A civil servant who preferred anonymity also accused Mpirirwe of taking a bribe of shillings 3 to help him get a job.
In his letter dated 25th July 2022, addressed to Mpirirwe, Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigoba, the Ntungamo district chairperson says Mpiriwe’s act is unethical and contravenes the leadership Code 2002.
In the letter seen by this website, Mucunguzi summoned Mpirirwe to report to his office on Thursday for further discussion on the matter in order to avoid embarrassment as a member of the district executive committee.
But Mucunguzi was noncommittal on the matter when contacted by this website.
Meanwhile Mpirirwe denies any wrongdoing and termed the allegations as framed up and politically motivated by the Mucunguzi to tarnish his name after declaring interests in his position in the 2026 elections.
However Mpirirwe castigated Mucunguzi for allegedly tarnishing his name and yet the constitution gives him the mandate to drop the members of the executive who misbehave.
