KAMPALA: There was a drama on NBS Front Line Show on Thursday as the program ended prematurely after panellist Ofwono Opondo leaped from his seat and wanted to punch the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago apart live on air.
The disagreement arose over the Soroti by-election which was won by NRM’s Herbert Ariko. Lukwago pointed out the illegalities under which NRM won the election.
He was only told to shut up by Opondo. The NRM Spokesperson further threatened to push Lukwago out of the studio.
This scuffle soon got out of hand forcing the producer to suspend the show. It returned 20 minutes after the adverts.
Doors were heard banging in the background after the show returned as Lukwago was excluded from returning to the show.
Lukwago has since ran to social media to express his discontent.
“Short of words to explain what has happened to me at the NBS TV Frontline. Horrible, despicable!!. Fellow Ugandans, it’s Horrible. My only prayer is that I get out of this place safely!” he posted on Facebook.
It remains unclear if NBS management will ban Opondo over the unethical conduct.
