OIL ROADS: BULIISA RESIDENTS VANDALIZE ROAD SIGNS

By Pascal Onega

BULIISA: Following the completion of the major roads in the oil rich Buliisa district, residents have resorted to vandalizing the road sign posts put in place.

Sources say that the road signs are vandalized by either scrap dealers or builders thus risking travelers.

ASP John Mwaule the district police commander Buliisa confirms the matter. He has cautioned the residents and other road users against vandalizing the road signs.

‘’It’s of surprise these people are vandalizing the road signs instead of making good use of them, some districts don’t have such roads, people should make use of them since they were constructed for the benefit of the residents,’’ he said.

The permanent road signs inform the travellers what is a head and they include; schools, hospitals, bridges, escarpments with sharp corners, animal crossing points among others.

The police officer told ugreports that some of the sign posts established in areas of Bukumi, Nyamasoga in Biiso Sub County Buliisa and in Kyamukwenda in Kapapi Sub County Hoima District have been vandalized putting the lives of the road users at risk.
