ONE KILLED, TWO INJURED IN BUKEDEA ARMED ROBBERY

The body of the deceased is lying in Bukedea health center IV Mortuary pending for post-mortem.

BUKEDEA: Police are investigating the circumstances under which armed robbers shot dead the manager of petro city fuel station in Bukedea town council, Bukedea district and injured two others.

The robbers stormed the station on Sunday night at around 8pm and shot dead the manager identified as Daniel Esipan and injured Tom Omoto, the pump attendant and Ivan Masete, a security guard before fleeing with unspecified amount of money, phones and other valuable from the station.

According to the preliminary information, the robbers first snatched Askari’s gun which they later used to carry out the robbery.

The injured were rushed to Bukedea health center IV for treatment where they were later referred to Mbale regional hospital.

Oscar Geriggory Ageca, the east Kyoga police spokesperson confirmed the robbery saying the investigations are underway.

Moses Okurut, the chairperson LC1 Emokori ‘A’ cell where the station is located said the robbery of the fuel station has happened for the first time in Bukedea district. He said this has shocked the community members.

“We are witnessing this for the first time here in Bukedea, robbing stations using guns and killing people, I want to request the government through police if possible to tighten the security in the area”, said Mr. Okurut.

However the robbed station is located less than 75 meters from Bukedea central police station.
