OPM TO DISPATCH RELIEF ITEMS TO LAND VICTIMS CAMPED AT RDC’S OFFICE IN KIKUUBE

KAMPALA: The government of Uganda through the office of the Prime Minister will today {Wednesday} deliver relief aid to the over 200 families camped at the office of the resident district commissioner Kikuube.

According to the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, they have held an emergency meeting to resolve the issues surrounding the Bukinda evictees.

Nabbanja says that in the short run she has dispatched a team of ministers led by Engineer Hilarry Onek, the minister for disaster preparedness and response to establish the facts on ground.

Nabbanja says that the government will do all it takes to ensure that the people do not suffer in their own country.

Engineer Hilary Onek says that the Bukinda issue dates back to 2012 but it is being handled and a permanent solution shall be released.

The state minister for Bunyoro affairs in the office of the Prime Minister Jenefer Namuyangu Kacha says that the people should not lose hope because their issues are being handled.

The problem of Bukinda began in 2012 but in 2020 August over 8,000 families were evicted from the land they were occupying and relocated to what they termed as barren and infertile land.
