OVER 100 DEFILEMENT CASES REGISTERED IN WEST NILE THIS YEAR

WEST NILE: West Nile region has so far registered over 100 cases of defilement in this year. The cases were recorded between January 2022 and June 2022.

According to the West Nile police spokesperson, Josephine Angucia, Arua city was in the lead with 42 cases registered at Arua central police station and Ayivu east police post, followed by Zombo district with 39 cases, Terego 30 cases, Koboko 25 cases, Packwach 15 cases Nebbi 12 cases, Madi okollo 8 cases, Maracha 7 and Arua district 5 totaling to 183 cases registered.

Angucia told ugreports.com that 46 cases are still under inquiry, 86 cases are still with the directorate of public prosecution, 42 were not proceeded with, 65 were forwarded to court.

She said the figures show that the defilement cases are still rampant and there is need for stakeholders to play their roles in order to reduce the vice in the region.

The police mouthpiece however advises parents to always protect the children before such incidents happen saying that prevention is better than cure.
