KABALE: Over 500 billion shillings is needed to boost and learn nutrition programs in enhancement to reduce malnutrition.
During the five-day workshop held at Rukiko hall in Kabale district, the Executive Director Kigezi food and Nutrition Consultant Asiimwe Charles rallied other partners in development to embrace the fight against malnutrition.
‘’’We should fight against malnutrition from village level and learn how to avoid underlying problems of making food safety, water, and wash services,’’ he said.
According to Asiimwe, through good governance in the district will let people have meetings about nutrition, sensitize on policies or laws adding sums of money and resources for people to be well mobilised and sensitized.
In addition, Asiimwe revealed that poor policy dissemination and interpretation plans, inadequate resources in form of institutional capacity, data and resources in nutrition governance has led to an increase of malnutrition.
The committee that attended the workshop was created in 2020 after the government passed out formation of districts nutrition action plan 2022/21-2024/25 and the vision is in 2040 to ensure that malnutrition is eliminated.
