PARISH CHIEFS TO BE ARRESTED OVER FORGED ACADEMIC DOCUMENTS

KAGADI: A total of 36 Parish Chiefs and Principal Town Agents out of the 105 successfully recruited candidates are to face laws over forged academic credentials.

The ministry of local government received a complaint from a whistle-blower about irregularity in the recruitment process for the Parish Chiefs and Principal Ward Agents and unfilled crucial positions in Kagadi District local Government.

The whistle-blower alleged that seventeen (17) candidates out of those recruited did not have the required qualifications.

It was further alleged that some critical positions remained unfilled since creation of the district six years ago simply because they are ring-fenced for the district leadership.

The positions are; District Engineer, District Natural Resource Officer, District Health Officer, Medical Superintendent, District Planner, Principal Nursing Officer, Commercial Officer and Principal Human Resource Officer-District Service Commission.

Upon receipt of the complaint, a team headed by the Minister of State for Local Government Hon. Victoria Rusoke Businge was constituted to investigate the allegation.

According to a report released and seen by ugreports, it was established that out of 105 appointed Parish Chiefs and Principal Town Agents, Sixty nine (69) had presented genuine academic papers.

It further indicated that twenty seven (27) had presented forged academic papers, Seven (7) presented documents from institutions that are not on the list of recognized Higher Education Training Institutions as at 30th June 2021 while two (2) candidates were not verified due to failure to obtain information from the training institutions.

Speaking to ugreports while at Kagadi district headquarters Friday evening, the State Minister for Local Government Victoria Rusoke explained that some of the applicants forged institutions while others obtained papers from NASA Kampala.

Rusoke assures the general public that the culprits are going to be arrested so that they can face the law. She asked Whistleblowers to continue giving out such information to clear out the issue of corruption in the District.

Minister Rusoke pledged that in a few months they will come back to the district to give an induction to both the technical & political teams to improve on their performances.

On the issue of unfilled positions, Minister Rusoke ordered the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Kagadi to make a quick advertisement of the nine vacant positions that were discovered in the district to enable people to get Jobs and run the district effectively.

Meanwhile the Kagadi District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Mwebaza Adam who spoke on behalf of the Resident District Commissioner said they are going to arrest these people who forged papers so that they may be an example to those who planned to do the same.
