PASTOR ARRESTED OVER THEFT OF 1.2M IN GULU

GULU: Drama was Thursday experienced at Gulu Main Market at around 9:40am following the arrest of the pastor identified as Samuel Kibedi from Hope Tabernacle Ministry who was caught red-handed pocketing a million shilling belonging to his neighbour’s shop.

Samuel Kibedi, a junior pastor, reportedly entered into Charles Lukwiya’s shop and opened the drawer full of money where he pocketed money amounting to a total of over one million three hundred and twenty two thousands shilling.

Lukwiya, whose shop was victimized, told ugreports that Kibedi entered his shop when he was outside but his trustworthy customer identified as Yasin Onekalit, was waiting for him outside the shop.

He revealed “pastor unknowingly entered the shop and started to pick the money but I was tipped off, I came and arrested him though at first he pleaded that he was trying to put my money into a rightful position which is a false statement”.

Kibedi was immediately handed to the market security headed by Ford Onyergiu who interrogated him and he accepted that he stole the money totaling to one million three hundred and twenty two thousand shilling as he counted by himself before the market authorities.

Samuel Kibedi however pleaded guilty before the crowd citing that he was tempted by Satan, He prayed to his wife who was witnessing the incident to forgive him for what he described as heavy temptation and apologized verbally.

Partick Omaya chairperson the Market told URN that they have suspended Kibedi out of the market for three month and slapped him with a penalty of 200, 0000 shilling for bridging the article 4 of the Market constitution and demanded him to write the apology.

The article4 of the constitution of the Gulu Main Market dictates that, “any market vendors who are found guilty of stealing or promoting the vice of stealing of any properties belonging to the fellow vendors or market properties he/ she shall/ will be suspended out of the market for a period of not more than three months and he must pay a penalty of 200,000 shilling.

Omaya however warned the market vendors to desist from stealing but advises them to protect their neighbors together with their properties.

Meanwhile Samuel Okello who is the senior pastor at Hope Tabernacle Ministry confirmed that his junior pastor Samuel Kibedi is his Christian who is currently serving as a junior pastor who is tasked with a lot of church duties and obligations.

Okello however sorrier for the temptation his junior has experience today however he condemned the act of stealing and pledged to let him be disciplined by the church constitutions.

Lucy Alum who is the Management Member of New Life Ministry criticized the pastor for failing to keep his worldly desire but advised the servant of God to remain hard working as they continue to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Charles Lakony who is the general advisor of Gulu main market vendors association however appreciated the manner exhibited today by the market vendors through taking wrongdoer to the authorities but however he cautioned the servants of god to live by example and be than hard working.

According to the statistic revealed by Ford Onyergiu head of security at Gulu Main Market, two suspects were arrested and taken to the police, while one was killed by mob only in march this year
He however further revealed that street kid have intensify their activities of stealing goods from the market as they have got their way of being lock inside the market during the closing time.
