PM NABBANJA RUSHES TO MBALE TO ASSESS EFFECTS OF FLOODS

Ten people have been so far confirmed dead while scores are still missing.

MBALE: The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja has this afternoon {Sunday} rushed to Mbale City to asses effects of floods that ravaged the city Saturday night.

According to Nabbanja, the disaster could have been avoided if people stopped destroying the environment.

”The disaster could have been avoided if people stopped destroying the environment,” she said.

While in Mbale, the premier and other technical officials will visit some of the affected areas, then conduct meetings to discuss a way forward.

Ten people have been so far confirmed dead while scores are still missing.

The most affected areas are Nabuyo suburb, Busamaga, Kampala road, Namatala, Namakwekwe, Namabasa, Bugema, Bukasakya and Nabuyonga ward, Northern City Division, industrial park, and the neighbouring areas.

According to Rogers Wanduli, the heavy rain started last night at around 11:30pm till morning, many properties have been destroyed and scores are missing.
