POLICE ARREST FIVE ARMED THUGS IN WAKISO
According to Owoyesigyire, it was discovered that the criminals had planned to attack the Namugongo areas.

WAKISO: Police in Wakiso district are holding five suspected armed thugs.
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, said that last month, police received information about a group of armed thugs in Gayaza Trading Centre, Gayaza Ward, Kasangati Town Council in Wakiso District.
Owoyesigyire said that recently, police from Kasangati Police Station conducted surveillance in the area and carried out an operation that led to the arrest of five suspects.
‘’A team of officers conducted surveillance in the area, and at 2230 c, officers from Kasangati Police Station carried out an operation and arrested five suspects,’’ he said.
Owoyesigyire identified the suspects as Kawoya Charles (17), Sekubuge Akiram (23), Mwesigwa Enock (32), Sagara Denis (27), and Mwanja Ivan (31).
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, however, said that Nekesa Rachael, 29, and wife of Richard Mwesigwe, the suspected commander, are still at large.
Owoyesigyire revealed that during the operation, police also recovered eight sharpened pangas, six pit axes, five spanas, two motorcycles (a UEF 094E Yamaha red in color and a UEF 221S Bajaj boxer red in color), and a box containing nails.
According to Owoyesigyire, it was discovered that the criminals had planned to attack the Namugongo areas.
“Further investigations are ongoing, including a search of the suspects’ homes and efforts to trace those still at large,” he said.
The police officer urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
