By Our Reporter

JINJA: Earlier Sunday, police blocked the leader of People’s Front for Transition {PFT} Rtd. Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye from proceeding to Soroti to campaign for Moses Attan, the FDC candidate in the Soroti East by-election.

‘’Today, it is a beautiful day in Soroti East, our campaign trail will be joined by our founding President Besigye who will campaign for our candidate Hon. Moses Attan Okia, and also use this this by-election platform to awaken the people of the Teso region,’’ FDC posted on their social media.

Reliable sources say that Besigye was expected to join Attan’s campaign team at Otatai and Kikyinjaji wards in Soroti East County Soroti City.

According to sources, Besigye together with the political activist Samuel Lubega Mukaku were having breakfast at Igar Petrol Station when police blocked them.

The duo was forced to return to Kampala on orders of Jinja Regional Police Commander.

Three candidates are vying for the Soroti East Parliamentary seat in a hotly contested by-election. They are Pascal Amuriat {UP}, Herbert Ariko {NRM}, and Moses Attan Okia {FDC}.
