KAGADI: The police have exonerated the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party administrative secretary for Kagadi District of the murder accusations.
Obed Ambikize had been accused of masterminding the murder of his employee, Richard Alituha, 37, a resident of Kisankwa village in Kinyarugonjo sub-county. The incident reportedly happened on April 6, 2023, at Ambikize’s home in Mangoma.
Reports indicate that Alituha developed a mental disorder while still working for Ambikize, which prompted Ambikize to relieve him of his duties.
However, Alituha reportedly refused to leave Ambikize’s home as he had been directed, and Ambikize later reportedly directed his other workers to tie him up with a rope and assault him to death.
Pius Bajungu, a healthy worker at Bajungu Medical Services, says Alituha was already dead by the time he was delivered to the facility. According to Bajungu, the victim was abandoned at the health facility by four people who fled moments after delivering him.
He says the post-mortem report indicated that Alituha’s death was caused by over-bleeding from the injuries inflicted on him.
But Julius Allan Hakiza, a police spokesperson for the Albertine region, dismissed the accusations that the deceased was Ambikize’s employee.
Hakiza also dismissed the allegation that it was Ambikize who sent the mob that beat Alituha to death.
