MASINDI: Police in Masindi district impounded on Monday a motor vehicle registration number UAX 952V, white in color, that was stolen from Kampala on Sunday.
According to Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, police in Masindi received a phone call Monday night from Muhamad Ssegawa after tracking where the vehicle was heading, thus informing security in Masindi.
Hakiza says the vehicle was given to one Ronald Mutebi by the driver Sharif Nabazzi to park it for loading at around 6:00 p.m in Old Park, Kampala, where he ended up disappearing with it.
The regional police mouthpiece asserted that the vehicle was intercepted along Masindi Hoima Road and had three occupants: Vincent Tumwine, Francis Wamani, and Ronald Mutebi, all in their 30s.
He said both the suspects and the vehicle are at Masindi Central Police Station pending transfer to Kampala Central Police Station, where the case was reported.
Ronald Mutebi is the main suspect and habitual thief; he was jailed at Kitalya prison for five and a half years over theft.
