ARUA: Police are investigating an incident of murder by mob action of an unknown person by unknown people in Ayivu East division, Arua City.
The incident occurred at Dadamu cell, Ariwara ward, Arua City on 21st February 2023 at around 2:30am.
According to a statement by SP Angucia Josephine, the West Nile regional police spokesperson, it is alleged that on the fateful day at around 2:30am in Dadamu cell, an unknown man entered the kraal of one Sam Ndaa, a resident of Dadamu cell with the aim of stealing the cow from there.
The statement adds that when Ndaa saw the man, he attempted to arrest him but the man fled prompting him to sound alarms which attracted other residents that chased the man up to River Osu valley where they caught and beat him to death.
Angucia adds that the incident was reported to police by Apangu Isaac, the LC 1 chairman of Dadamu cell.
The police officer adds that the Police responded by visiting, documenting the scene of crime, recovered the exhibits and took the body to Arua regional Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
However Angucia says no arrest has yet occurred as inquiries continue into the matter under Ayivu East Division CRB 29/2023.
The police officer urged the general public to desist from mob action but she instead advised them to always arrest the people they suspect to commit crimes and hand them over to the police for investigation.
She adds that this also helps the police to get rid of the criminal rackets in the country as the suspects can provide information that can lead to the arrest of their accomplices.
