POLICE NAMES SUPER CUSTOM OCCUPANTS WHO PERISHED IN MBALE FLOODS

Elgon region police spokesperson, ASP Rogers Taitika said the occupants were residents of Kampala who were heading for an Introduction ceremony in Kabwangasi, Butebo district.

MBALE: The police have identified occupants of a Super Custom Car that was swept off the road by the Saturday night’s floods killing all of them.

Speaking to the media this afternoon {Monday}, the Elgon region police spokesperson, ASP Rogers Taitika said the occupants were residents of Kampala who were heading for an Introduction ceremony in Kabwangasi, Butebo district.

Out of the eleven occupants, police have managed to recover 10 bodies with five fully identified. Among those identified are; Edrine Ahabwe aged 34 years of age, Andrew Wangali aged 27 years from Budaka, Jenipher Mutuzu aged 32 years, Alex Masereka and Abudala-Khakimu Bogi from Kawempe.

Taitika says that they are unable to identify others since they were not having identification.

By press time local people were still carrying out searches to identify more bodies they believe to be hidden under water.

Meanwhile, Police also confirmed the number of bodies retrieved from water at Mbale city to have risen to 20.

Taitika said that by yesterday evening they had retrieved ten bodies but now more ten have been discovered today after the level of water was reduced.
