MASINDI: Police in Masindi district is investigating circumstances under which their colleague committed suicide by hanging on the tree.
The incident happened on Friday morning at Golf Grounds in Central Division Masindi Municipality.
The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson ASP Julius Allan Hakiza has identified the deceased as Constable Mugenyi Kandole, a resident of Kisindizi village in Pakanyi Sub County.
According to Hakiza, the deceased was attached to Masindi Police Station and had a mental problem. He says they are investigating exactly what caused the gruesome incident.
‘’The deceased had a mental problem, but we are investigating exactly what caused the gruesome incident,’’ he said.
Mr. Tumusiime James, an eyewitness told ugreports.com at the scene that he saw someone dangling on the tree which prompted him to inform the police at Masindi CPS which responded.
‘’I saw someone dangling on the tree. He used his shirt to hang himself, this prompted me to inform the police at Masindi CPS which responded,’’ he said.
Hon. Ronald Businge Kyomuhendo, the Masindi Municipal Mayor, condemns the act. He asked people to solve their problems amicably than committing suicide.
‘’It’s unfortunate to lose people in such a gruesome way, they should seek guidance and counselling than committing suicide,’’ he said.
By Press time the lifeless body of Kandole was lying at Masindi district general hospital mortuary pending postmoterm.
Three people in Masindi district have committed suicide by hanging in a space of one week.
