POLICE RESCUES TWO FROM MOB IN MASINDI

MASINDI: The suspects only identified as Isaac and Ismail have Thursday evening survived being lynched by angry mob on allegations of phone theft.

The incident happened at around 17:45 hours at Commercial street Masindi town.

It’s alleged that the two stole a smart phone worth 1,650,000/= belonging to the director of Najju Guest House and Home Center.

According to Joy Najju the director Najju Guest House and Home Center, the duo came at the supermarket, picked up the phone and disappeared.

”They first confused the attendant by making different orders, and later said that they will come back later,” Najju told our reporter at the scene.

Najju further told ugreports that after realizing the phone was missing, they contacted the ICT expert who traced for it, and it was recovered in the hands of the two suspects.

”The suspects had already fled the area, and were at persie street in the shop, and i suspect they were planning for another move,” Joel Tinkasimiire an eyewitness told our reporter.

Tinkasimiire further told ugreports that the two were brought back to Najju Guest House and Home Care and punished by angry mob, and were later rescued by police from Masindi Central Police Station.

”Najju informed the police which intervened and rescued them, they recorded statements at Masindi CPS before being rushed to Masindi hospital for treatment,” He asserted.

According to Juliet Atugonza, an eyewitness, if police had not intervened, the two would be dead.
The case has been recorded at Masindi Central Police Station with serial No 46/10/02/2022.

By the press time, police was at the scene but not ready to give a comment.
