HOIMA: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today commissioned various roads in the Albertine Region worth several billion shillings, and they include the 111 km Homa-Butiaba-Wanseko road that was worth 263 billion shillings, 69 km Kigumba-Masindi- Buliima road that was worth 203 billion shillings, and 66 km Bulima- Hoima- Kabwoya Road worth 1413 billion shillings.

During the launch, President Museveni also addressed Bunyoro leaders at Bunyoro Muslim Headquarters Bwikya cell in Hoima city where he expressed concern over one of the opposition political parties that are misleading the Banyoro that the newly tarmacked Roads have been constructed due to the discovery of oil and gas in the region.

“The Kigumba-Bulima-Kabwoya- Kyenjojo Road and the Mubende-Kakumiro- road they were to be construed despite the absence of Oil and Gas Discovery in the region because their construction work was under the government project aimed at connecting various roads in Bunyoro Region to other roads in different parts of the country to promote tourism and agricultural production but not due to the oil discovery,” Museveni said.

Museveni added that the NRM government had already gathered funds for the construction activities of these roads and therefore those who are alleging the construction of Bunyoro roads to the oil and gas discovery are giving false information.

“The NRM government has already paid the debts for the roads that have been constructed in the Albertine Region and therefore am urging the Banyoro to utilize these roads effectively so as to improve your standards of living”. he added.
