BULIISA: Police in Buliisa district have mounted an investigation into the incident where fire gutted a shop, leaving property worth millions destroyed.
The incident happened on Wednesday at around 1 a.m. in the Civic Cell Buliisa Town Council, Buliisa District.

According to Alfred Tumwesige, neigbor, he was informed by nighttime partygoers that Felix Wandera’s shop was on fire.
Tumwesige asserted that this prompted him to inform the family members who rushed to the scene, and with the help of neighbors and partygoers, they rescued the fire that had already caught the whole room, leaving items destroyed.
Wandera’s son, only identified as Timothy, says the incident shocked him since they are not connected to hydroelectric power. ‘’I closed the shop normally, and I was shocked to be informed that my father’s shop has caught fire,’’ he said.
He told this publication that the same scenario happened last year, in October 2022, when his father lost millions of shillings due to fire. ‘’My father was in Masindi at the time of the incident,’’ he said.
The Buliisa District Police Commander, SP John Chrysostom Mwaule, confirmed the incident, adding that they have commenced an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
On September 13, 2023, all electrical appliances that were connected to power in Biiso Town and Buliisa district were burnt as a result of high power voltage.
