LIRA: Government of Uganda has committed that the reconstruction of the Lira-Kamdini road will start on the 15th of April 2022.

This was revealed on Friday by Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabanjja the Prime Minister of Uganda while addressing the people during the installation of Bishop of Elim Pentecostal Mission Rev Julius Peter Eyit at the Lira City Mayors garden.

Nabanjja said World Bank has approved everything including the environmental impact assessment and the rock quarry site to be used in the construction of the road.

According to Nabanja the 65 Km Lira-Kamdini road is Uganda’s umbilical cord, the reason government wants to work on it a very strong manner.

The premier added that government had several meetings with the World Bank and is only awaiting to launch the reconstruction and civil works will commence.

The Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng who is also the Lira City Woman MP says the reconstruction of the road according to the planned schedule will begin on the 15th of April 2022.


Aceng says there should be no further anxiety about the road as it has now been confirmed that the reconstruction will start and it will be done well.

The Chairperson of Lango Parliamentary Group Judith Alyek who also spoke at the same function asked the prime minister to ensure other roads like Dokolo- Amolatar, Ayer- Bobi and Lira –Alebtong to Abim are upgraded.

The General Overseer of Elim Petecostal Mission of Uganda Fredrick Makaa presided over the installation of Rev Julius Peter Eyit who will replace Bishop Tom Ibrahim Okello.
