ROBBERS SHOOT GULU MOBILE MONEY OPERATOR DEAD
The victim was rushed to the Gulu regional referral hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead this morning.

GULU: Police in Gulu City are investigating the circumstances under which a mobile money operator was shot dead by armed robbers.
The incident happened on Saturday at around 2100hours at Layibi Lacan Kwite.
According to brief facts obtained from one Odong Ismail, a boda boda rider who reported the incident to police, it’s alleged that three unknown men and two wearing army uniforms armed with two AK47 guns attacked a mobile banking/mobile money point belonging to one Opio Ian.
‘’The armed robbers attacked a mobile banking/mobile money point belonging to Opio Ian and managed to rob an unspecified amount of money and a mobile phone,’’ he narrated.
In the process, they discharged two bullets, which injured Olobo Kenneth, the mobile money operator, in the chest.

Police from Gulu Central Police Station, headed by the OC Station, visited the scene, secured it, and documented it. Some materials of evidential value, including two cartridges and one projectile, were recovered and exhibited.
The case was opened at the same police station under SD Ref. 59/08/07/2023 and investigations of a double incident of aggravated robbery and murder by shooting has commenced.
The suspects are still at large but are being closely hunted by police for possible arrest as more inquiries continue.
By the time of publication, the deceased’s body was still lying at the hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
