RUKUNGIRI: MAN KILLED, BODY DUMPED IN ANIMAL FARM

RUKUNGIRI: The territorial police of Rukungiri are hunting for suspects who allegedly assaulted a 45-year-old to death and dumped the body in animal farm.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Africano Katungi, a resident of Kakanyenye cell Karuhembe parish Kebisoni Sub county Rukungiri District.

It’s alleged that on Sunday at about 01:30am, the deceased left the bar of Kintu John Bosco which is operated by Kyomuhendo Christine at Mabanga trading center and took the direction of his home at Kakanyenye cell.

On his way, he was attacked by unknown assailants who assaulted, tied him with a black cloth around the neck and dragged him up to the animal farm of one Kesukule Charles where the body was found.

The incident was then reported by Nabasa Superior resident of Rigyencwa cell who said that while sleeping, he heard a scuffle alongside the road which continued up to the farm behind his home.

This prompted Nabasa to go and see, only to find a dead body which he rushed to report at Mabanga police.

Maate told journalists that the scene of crime was visited and documented, body taken to the Rwakabengo health centre mortuary for postmortem.

He added that one person has been arrested to assist police in investigations as inquiry continues.
