SIX EXPLOSIVES DICOVERED IN BUKEDEA SWAMP

BUKEDEA: Fish women in Kidongole Sub County in Bukedea district have discovered a total of six explosives buried at the swamp bordering between Kotolut village and Kamacha village Kumi district.

The explosions were discovered as fish women were trying to source for mad fish in Kidongole swamp.

According to the eyewitnesses, at first they saw four stringed items looming on water which made them make an alarm until one of the community members intervened and advised them to not to move near nor tough.

“We were busy trying to harvest mad fish, but we were shocked to realize a stringed item on water,” an eyewitness said.

Samuel Okurut, the sub county chairperson Kidongole Sub County who doubles as chairperson security in the sub county immediately alerted police who later informed Mbale boom squad.

“When I was called, I informed police who later called Mbale boom squad, we at first discovered four booms, but when we continued on the same point we recovered more two, totalling to six explosives,” Okurut said.

Okurut also added that it’s the first thing of its kind to happen in his area of jurisdiction.

However, the recovered explosives were taken by Mbale boom squad soldiers for further management.
