SOROTI: Another mobile money agent has been robbed of six million shillings and five mobile phones at gunpoint.
Emeetai Immaculate was robbed on Thursday at about 07:59 PM at Maroon quarters within Soroti City, West Division.
According to the police, the robbers who were armed with one gun and a club waylaid Emeetai at her home in Maroon Quarters, put her and her neighbour at gun point before making off with the money, phones and an ignition key for a Bajaj motorcycle,
According to ASP Ageca Oscar Greggory, the PRO of East Kyoga territory, police officers responded and reached the scene within a few minutes of the robbery’s occurrence and have registered the incident vide SD 31/06/06/2022 of Soroti City west division to aid in the process of investigation.
”We appeal to members of the public with information to provide the same through our Toll Free lines 999 or 112 or call Soroti West division on counter number 0741-243400. We shall treat any information in a confidential manner as legally mandated being cognizant of individual security”, he added in a statement.
He also advised persons who carry on businesses within the East Kyoga region to be mindful of their security and desist from acts of carrying large amounts of money or traveling with money when it’s already dark.
