SPEAKER AMONG REWARDS BEST 2022 PLE BEST PERFORMERS

BUKEDEA: The Speaker of the 11th Parliament Annet Anita Among has rewarded the best Primary Leaving Examination performers in year 2022 in Bukedea district.
The district registered a total of 198 pupils in Division one in the exams whose results were released by UNEB last Friday.
Among, who is the district woman Member of Parliament was represented by Professor Jonas Gumisiriza at the handover ceremony on Thursday where each pupil who scored grade one received a mattress and pocket money amounting to 100,000 shillings.
“This support is from the speaker and according to her message she will continue supporting the education in the district”, said Prof Gumisiriza as he handed over the donation to the beneficiaries.
Stephen Okurut, the acting district education officer had ealier revealed that the district registered 6,191pupils for the 2022 PLE exam and of these , 198 obtained first grade, 2,112 second grade, 1,666 third grade, 1038 forth grade and 1120 division U.
“In year 2022 we as Bukedea have registered great progress in PLE results compared to 2020, this year we have got 198 pupils in division one compared to the 130 that we got in 2021”, observed Okurut.
Okurut added that 57 pupils missed sitting for the 2022 PLE.
Speaking at the same event, Maira Joseph Mukasa, the Bukedea chief administration officer attributed the improved performance for the district in the exams to the increased engagement of the pupils by the teachers.
Bukedea is among the districts still performing poorly in the national exams in the country.
