STATE HOUSE ARRESTS NTUNGAMO CAO, THREE OTHERS FOR EMBEZZLING FUNDS

NTUNGAMO: Police are holding Ntungamo district Chief Administrative Officer- CAO together with three other district workers over allegations of embezzlement and abuse of office.

CAO Nassar Mukiibi, the acting Chief Finance Officer Muhwezi Frank Buhamizo, the Principal auditor Coleb Natuhamya and Ezra Tukesiga-mukama, the district Senior auditor were arrested on Monday from the district headquarters by State house health monitoring unit led by Dr. Brian Arinaitwe and taken to Ntungamo police station for interrogation where they were still being held.

Two other officials from the same district are on the run and being hunted for by police. They are Arthur Mwebesa, the officer in charge of salaries and Mary Tukundane, the senior human resource officer.

It is alleged that the suspects created ghost health 4s, were paying ghost employees, overpaying selected employees, making full payments and paying duty allowances to officials on interdiction among other offences.

The created ghost health centre include Rwabarata, Rwakabengo, Rwakakwenda, Rwakishakizi, Rwamabondo, Rwamujojo, Rwamuniori, Rwamuranga, Rwamwanja which are all non existent in Ntungamo district.

The team also squeezed the new district human resource officer Jennifer Muhairwe for information pinning on the arrested officers .

The Ntungamo District Police Commander (DPC) ASP Patience Baganzi confirmed the officers’ arrest saying police has prefered abuse of office and causing financial loss to government as the withholding charges against them.
