MASINDI: A man said to be a habitual thief has been killed while trying to rob a motorcycle in Kirasa 2 cell, Masindi central division, Masindi district.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at around 5am.

The deceased has only been identified as Kabody, a resident of the nearby Kirasa 1 cell who was killed while trying to rob a motorcycle from a resident only identified as Musa.

According to Yedida Tusiime, the area LC council 1 vice chairperson, Kabode broke into Musa’s house last night where Musa was sleeping and as he tried to take his motorcycle Musa woke up prompting Kabode to stab him with a knife in the face and later on the hand.

Tusiime adds that Musa fought Kabode as he sounded an alarm that attracted other residents who later beat him to death.

She added that police went and took Kabode’s to Masindi hospital mortuary while Musa was taken to a yet to be known health facility for treatment.


Hamza Kabaka, the chairperson Kirasa 1 cell told ugreports that the deceased has been a resident in the area and a Boda-boda rider and was recently arrested after stealing a mattress and a TV screen but escaped from them.

He added that they were still hunting for him only to be told that he had been killed in a similar act in the neighboring village.

Police visited the scene but were not ready to comment on the matter.
