THREE ARRESTED OVER SUSPECTED HUMAN SACRIFICE IN GULU

GULU: A well armed plain clothed people believed to be from Chieftaincy of military intelligence have arrested three suspects alleged to have committed child sacrifice in Gulu city.

The trio whose identity was concealed was picked from Kanyagoga “A” cell in Bardege Layibi Gulu city by security operatives.

Prior to details obtained from the village authorities reveal they were two male adults and one female adult who were all residents of the same area.

The area chairperson Florence Atoo says the three were found in possession of human remains and other items recovered from their rental believed to have been used for conducting ritual.

She adds that the surrounding community were in shock following the intelligence report of their arrest.

According to the report obtained by UGReports from the chairperson, the authorities yesterday {Tuesday} discovered a bone believed to be a spinal cord of a young child in the grass thatched house occupied by a resident who was only identified as Jennifer.

She however says that the landlady requested the local leaders to search in their room but out of surprise they found ritual apparatus including human remains which looks like a spinal cord.

“It is true during the search, we got ritual apparatus and a human bone in the house they were renting,” she added.

Other items that were recovered include bamboo pole splited which is believed to have been used for brushing teeth, white herbal powder wrapped in a white pill and three rounded clay pot molded in human face.

”All these items were wrapped in a green pill and covered with a red piece of cloth and has led to fear following the unexpected, weird act by the community of the area,” she asserted.

The incident prompted the local leaders to consult with witch doctors in Kanyagoga however they were told that the items were meant to carry out ritual as it was destroyed to ashes by the locals.

According to the locals, the access road passing through and leading to different homesteads has been abandoned by the community as there is too much fear.

The community have also blamed the landlady one Jennifer Auma for not registering her tenant with the area LC1 chairperson.

However when asked, the landlady told UGReports that her tenant whom she knew only was Jennifer operating a restaurant in Gulu City.

“I know she likes changing men and has never been straight with her relationship,” she narrated.

Mathew Okello, a resident wondered why this tenant was keeping such an item in her home.

Kaunda Oyet, the general secretary of the village said they have reported the matter to the office of Resident City Commissioner Gulu City.

Oyet, however, advised house owners being rented to always ask for introduction letters from every tenant before they are accommodated in the area.

By the time of compiling this story, the deputy resident city commissioner Pece- Laroo division Gulu city Peter Banya said he is still to get an update from the security on the alleged report on the arrest.
However David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa river region police spokesperson said the region is unaware about the arrest.

”Maybe it’s an intelligent arrest. We are waiting for a report from any security agencies that may have arrested these people,” he said.
