BUNYORO: Three modern markets in the Albertine region construction by Techno Three Uganda Limited, Ps Construction are to be opened in March this year.
This was revealed by Ms Sheila Naturinda, the communication specialist for Albertine Region Sustainable Development Plan (ARSDP) and USMID projects of World Bank while speaking to our reporter.
Ms Naturinda, said the three markets will start operating by March, and they include Biiso in Buliisa district, Kabaale in Hoima district, and Buhuka market in Kikuube District.
She told ugreports.com that they are currently validating vendors who will occupy the markets.
Moses Odongo the Biiso market site Engineer attributed the delay to the delayed construction materials from the factory, added that they were expecting to complete the project by December last year.
”Construction work at Biiso main market is at 95 percent complete and there are few things left, and we hope by March we shall have finalized,” Odongo noted.
In February last year, the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development that is implementing the second component of ARSDP, contracted Techno Three Uganda Ltd, Ps Construction to construct the three markets in the Albertine region.
The markets are part of the Albertine Region Sustainable Development Plan (ARSDP) projects initiated by government with funding from the World Bank, a total of $25 million (Shs87b) was allocated to the construction of three markets in the region.
