THREE UPDF OFFICERS ARRESTED OVER ROBBERY

FORTPORTAL: Security in Fort Portal City has arrested three security officers that robbed and killed Nyakahuma Stephen, a business man in Kitumba early this month.

They were arrested this morning at around 1a.m.

The suspects are Mugisa Francis and Elly Atomtom, both UPDF officers who deserted from their duty and one Otwom, a prisons officer who was driving the two.

The suspects are temporary detained at Fortportal Central Police Station.

Richard Muhumuza, the Mayor central division who also doubles as the head of security in the division told ugreports.com that the three were apprehended from Kasojo in Koko town council where they were renting while the AK47 gun that was used in the terror was recovered from Mugoma cell in North division.

”Francis Mugisa was once arrested in 2018 at his home in Nyakagongo with two guns that were used to kill a person at Rugombe fuel station but was later released,” Muhumuza asserted.

When contacted, Capt. Peter Mugisa the Moutain Division Uganda People’s Defence Forces {UPDF} spokesperson said that they haven’t got information pertaining the arrest of their officers.

He however disclosed that sometimes security carry out operations without their consent. ”They might have arrested them, but i haven’t got such information,” Mugisa contedend.

The UPDF spokesperson added that he is yet to find out, and will keep us updated.

On 11th Jan 2022 around 9p.m, armed robbers attacked and killed 33year old Nyakairu Steven in Kyoja cell Kitumba ward Fort Portal robbed him money worth 1.5million.
