Nebbi: Police in Nebbi district are vigorously investigating an incident of aggravated robbery where Nyaravur Farmers’ SACCO was robbed by thugs.
According to West Nile Region Police Spokesperson Josephine Angucia, the incident happened in the night between March 25 and March 26, 2023, at an unknown time in Nyaravur trading center ‘C’ cell, Mbaro East Ward, Nyaravur Sub County, Nebbi district.
It’s alleged that on the fateful night, some thugs cut the chain-link fence of the Nyaravur Farmers SACCO offices from behind.
Angucia told this publication on Monday that the thugs went ahead to chloroform the two guards of Tiger Security Company and then robbed 20 million shillings.
‘’The two guards were later rushed to St. Luke Angal Hospital, admitted while unconscious,’’ she said.
The regional police mouthpiece asserted that the matter was reported to police by Mr. Munguyiko Kingdom, the compliance manager of the SACCO group.
‘’Police acted by registering a case of aggravated robbery, visiting and documenting the scene of the crime, recording statements from relevant witnesses, and issuing PF 3 to the victims for medical examination,’’ Angucia said.
She further added that police introduced canine services to the scene, which led to the arrest of one suspect, and added that inquiries have commenced under Nyaravur Police SD reference 03/26/2023.
Angucia urged the community living around the Nyaravur trading center and beyond to share information that can lead to the arrest of suspects so they can face the law.
