TWO CHILDREN PERISH IN KAKUMIRO DAM

By Chris M Bruno
KAKUMIRO: Two children were found dead on Thursday after they apparently wandered away from home and drowned in a dam. The incident happened in Kasambya LC1 in Mpassana town council Kakumiro district.
George Rwegira, the area chairperson, said that he received information from a resident of the same area who informed him about the children’s death.
The deceased children were identified as Fred Nuwagaba, six years and Asiimwe Maria, seven years, both residents of Rwenshama LC1 Kitutuma in Bujaja parish.
It’s alleged that the dam belongs to Twagira Byarugaba, a resident of the same area.
Rwegira warned the residents who own the dams in his area to always fence them and also asked parents to take care of their children.
An eyewitness who spoke to ugreports.com said that by the time they reached the dam they found that the children had already died.
The lifeless bodies were rushed to hospital for post-mortem.
Officers from Mpassana police station visited the scene and retrieved the bodies from the dam.
