TWO KNOCKED DEAD IN HOIMA

HOIMA: Two people have been knocked dead along the Hoima-Kaiso-Tonya Road in Hoima district.

The deceased have been only identified as Odongo and Orochi both residents of Chongambe trading center in Nyakabingo parish Buseruka sub county in Hoima district. The accident occurred on Sunday morning at around 7:30a.m at Kataba village, Kabaale sub county in Hoima district.

The duo was heading to Bugoma in Kyangwali sub county while riding on a motorcycle registration number UFK 909E Bajaj when a speeding vehicle registration number UBA 702U Toyota Noah knocked them, and died on spot.

Yuda Okwairwoth, an eye witness told ugreports.com that after knocking the duo, the driver tried to speed off but angry boda boda riders started pursuing him compelling him to abandon the vehicle by the roadside and fled for his dear life.

ASP Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine region police spokesperson says they have commenced investigations into the fatal accident. ‘’Preliminary police investigations indicate that the accident was caused by over-speeding and reckless driving by the vehicle driver, the hunt for the driver has commenced,’’ he added.

The police spokesperson says the bodies of the deceased persons have been handed over to the relatives for burial arrangements after postmortem was conducted. ‘’Both the vehicle and the motorcycles that were involved in the accident have been towed to Hoima central police station for further investigations,’’ he disclosed.
