UGANDANS ENCOURAGED TO EMBRACE EARLY DISEASE TREATMENT

NTUNGAMO: Ugandans have been encouraged to embrace early diagnosis and look after their health in order to ease the disease burden control and treatment across the country.

According to Dr Joseph Etuku the general medical practitioner at Ankole Medical Centre Kashanda Rubaare, the public have a tendency of procrastinating the disease diagnosis which has increased pressure on the health system and resulted in loss of lives.

Dr Etuku warned them against such habit rather than rush for early medical checkups for better health saying that it is more expensive to treat than prevention.

He made remarks on Tuesday a head of official opening of the state of the art health facility named Ankole Medical Centre Kashanda in Kagugu parish Rubaare sub county Rushenyi county Ntungamo district founded and supported by Hon Mwesigwa Rukutana and his friends from Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.

Dr Etuku commended Hon Mwesigwa Rukutana and his friends for being visionary to build Ankole Medical Centre Kashanda to bring services nearer to the people who have been trekking long distances to seek medical attention.

He revealed that the Ankole Medical Centre is privately owned but offering services at subsidized cost to enable everyone to better services in the area.

Ketsaasi Dorah the senior midwife at Ankole Medical Centre Kashanda urged people to always seek medical attention when it is still early before the situation is worsened to avoid higher costs in terms of referrals among others.

She noted that the facility will offer free hypertension and diabetic services to whoever comes at the facility as one way to reduce the burden of sickness in the area.

Ankole Medical Centre Kashanda which is to serve the areas of Kagugu, Nyanga, Kyafoora,Kashanda all in Rushenyi and others of Omukiyenje Rukungiri District will offer specialized emergency and critical care services, Obstetrics and gynecology, Maternal and family planning services, emergency and general surgery, adult and pediatric care, dental and eye care Laboratory services and Scanning and X-ray services.

Some of the beneficiaries hailed Hon Mwesigwa Rukutana for fulfilling his pledge when he was still area MP describing him as a true statesman who advocated for unity and health service delivery in Rushenyi County.
