MASINDI: The Uganda People’s Defence Forces {UPDF} on Sunday commenced the recruitment exercise of the Local Defence Personnel {LDPs} in the Albertine Region.
Over 2,000 youths turned up for the exercise that started at King George Stadium in Masindi Municipality. The exercise that started at 8am was flagged off by Emmy Ngabirano the Masindi Resident District Commissioner.
The Artillery Division Spokesperson Maj. Steven Tumwesigye told journalists that the youths were drawn from the two districts of Kiryandongo and Masindi.
He said they will be screened until they get the number they need. ‘’We shall screen them until we get the needed number because we can’t recruit them all,’’ he clarified.
Maj. Tumwesigye told the unsuccessful candidates to try the next chance since they can’t recruit them all at once. ‘’If you have not succeeded please don’t give up, try next time,’’ he said.
He also said that their next destination will be Kibaale district where three districts will be considered including Kibaale, Kagadi and Kakumiro then they will proceed to Hoima and get candidates from Hoima and Buliisa.
