ARUA: The validation exercise that started on Monday will see over 200 staff of the city confirmed in their positions or demoted according to their academic qualifications.
This follows the recent cry by the mayor Arua city Wadri Sam Nyakua to the minister of local government Raphael Magyezi while in Arua city last month.
The mayor told the minister that since Arua became a city all the staff are in acting capacity which makes service delivery difficult in some circumstances.
The minister Magyezi acknowledged the gap and informed the city council that the verification will start in this month and all the staff and other departments lacking manpower will be filled.
Wadri Sam Nyakua the mayor Arua city says the verification exercise is ongoing well under minimal challenges and this will ease service delivery since they will no longer be in acting capacity.
He further said those who will not qualify in the positions they are serving will not be offloaded but rather given the positions according to their qualifications.
Arua was among the municipalities that were elevated into cities on July 1st 2020.
