KAGADI: Residents of Nyakabungo village in Rubona Parish, Ruteete Sub County, Kagadi district, were left in shock after their village executive secretary committed suicide by hanging himself in his house.
The deceased, identified as Joseph Mugisha, 66, hanged himself for unclear reasons. The gruesome incident happened on Monday, May 8, 2023, at around 5 p.m.
The Nyakabungo LC1 chairperson, Mr. Byamugisha Benon, said he had worked with the deceased on the LC1 executive for a long time and has been a good resident.
‘’I have worked with Mugisha for a long time, and he has been a good executive member,’’ he said.
Mr. Byamugisha condemned the suicide act and appealed to residents with grudges to always seek counseling from the leaders instead of committing such acts.
By the time of publication, police had visited the scene, done a postmortem, and authorized burial arrangements.
Cases of suicide have become rampant in the district, with the latest case being one last week that involved Geresom Muteebwa, a man in his 50s who ended his life in Kyakabdiima sub-county.
